Buggy Running into the New Year

Getting fit in the New Year is a common goal for many people as they set resolutions to improve their health and well-being. Buggy running is a popular way you can improve your fitness with your little one(s) in tow.

It is essential to prioritize safety when engaging in buggy running. Here are some tips to ensure safety when running with a pushchair:

  1. Choose the Right buggy: Opt for a buggy specifically designed for jogging such as the Nipper Sport. Specific running buggies typically have larger wheels, better suspension systems, and a more stable design compared to regular strollers. They are built to handle the rigors of running and provide a smoother ride for your child.
  2. Secure Your Child: Ensure that your child is securely strapped into the buggy using the harness provided by the manufacturer. If there is a bumper bar, make sure this is also in situ.
  3. Check the buggies Condition: Regularly inspect the stroller for any wear and tear, loose parts, or damage. Make sure the brakes are working correctly, and the tyres are properly inflated.
  4. Use the Wrist Strap: Most jogging buggies come with a wrist strap or safety tether that attaches to your wrist. Always use this strap to prevent the stroller from rolling away from you if you stumble or fall.
  5. Maintain Proper Running Form: Keep a firm grip on the stroller handlebar with both hands while running. Maintain good posture and avoid leaning too far forward or backward, as this can affect your balance and control.
  6. Choose Safe Routes: Select running routes that are smooth, flat, and free of obstacles like rocks, tree roots, and debris. Avoid busy roads and opt for jogging paths, parks, or dedicated running trails whenever possible.
  7. Stay Alert: Pay close attention to your surroundings while running with a buggy. Be aware of other pedestrians, cyclists, and potential hazards on the path.
  8. Follow the Manufacturer's Guidelines: Read and follow the manufacturer's recommendations and guidelines for your specific jogging buggy, including weight limits and age restrictions.
  1. Communicate with Your little one(s): Talk to your child during the run to keep them engaged and reassure them. Make stops when needed to attend to your child's needs, like feeding, nappy changes, or comfort breaks. (Top tip – ALWAYS take snacks!)

By following these safety guidelines, you can enjoy jogging with your buggy whilst ensuring the safety and comfort of your child. Always prioritise your child's well-being and exercise caution to prevent accidents.
