Out n About Nipper Double 360 V4
In our mission to find the best double buggies, we spent three months researching and testing products based on recommendations from the Mumsnet Talk boards, experts and bestseller lists. In approximately 77 days of testing, our parent tester (a busy mum of three) put each buggy through its paces, pushing it over 80km and scoring it based on six key areas:- Safety and stability
- Assembly
- Day-to-day use
- Cleanliness
- Aesthetics
- Value for money
Five pushchairs were awarded a Mumsnet Best Badge, which represents the products that we feel reflect the best value for most families. Overall, we think that the Out n About Nipper Double 360 V4 is the best double buggy for most parents.
What you need to know about double pushchairs
First things first – will you need a double buggy? If you are expecting twins or a second baby to an older sibling spaced just a few years apart, a double pram may well be your go-to when wading through the inevitable parenting minefield. While double pushchairs come in all shapes and sizes, with a number of different features and accessories to boot, when it comes down to it there are actually only two types:- Twin – allows your children to sit next to one another, side-by-side, and is typically (although not always) used for twins
- Tandem – a more slimline option that positions one child above or in front of the other and may be used for a toddler and a newborn

What Mumsnetters say
“I have bought other buggies and got rid of them quite quickly because they just weren't as good.” “I had the Nipper – fantastic and very reasonably priced too.” “I totally love mine. I can push it around one-fingered, fully loaded – that's my playground party trick!” “Best pushchair I've owned, and I've owned a fair few.”
How we tested
Safety and stability- We conducted a topple test, hanging heavy changing and shopping bags from the handle, with and without children in the seats
- We also assessed the stability of the pushchair, both in motion and on sloping ground, making sure it wouldn't unexpectedly tip over, and looked for five-point harnesses, recline mechanisms, bumper bars and the functionality of brake pedals
- We studied what was included in the box and, if it needed assembly, how easy each product was to put together
- Were extra conversion kits needed to convert the product from a single to double buggy?
- Did the manufacturers list specifications, including weight? And did it come with a warranty?
- Our tester put each model through its paces in a variety of day-to-day scenarios: the school run, supermarket shop, trips to town and park outings
- We analysed whether the storage basket provided enough room for toddler and newborn essentials)
- How easily it was to lift, bump up kerbs, fold and unfold, and fit on the bus or in the boot of the car?
- We also assessed comfort, recline positions and accessories, such as rain covers and sun hoods
- At the end of the test, we assessed how the materials had worn, checking to see if there was any damage to the wheels, and deliberately dirtying the fabrics to see how they fared in the washing machine
- How did it look?
- Was the design sleek and modern and were there any extra features that made it stand out from the crowd?
- Because double pushchairs can be a serious investment, we measured how long each model could be used for and whether it warranted its price tag
- Were many extras and accessories included and did it come with a carrycot as standard?
