Cycle to Work Scheme

The Cycle to Work Scheme is a government-backed initiative designed to make cycling more accessible and affordable for employees. It allows you to obtain a bike and/or cycling accessories through your employer via a salary sacrifice arrangement — meaning the cost is deducted from your gross salary before tax.

Why it’s worth considering:

  • Save between 28% and 47% on the cost of a new bike and cycling equipment.

  • You don’t pay Income Tax or National Insurance on the amount sacrificed.

  • Spread the cost over 12 to 18 months (or longer, depending on the provider).

  • Choose what suits you, a bike and accessories, just a bike, or just accessories.

  • Promote active travel, reduce your carbon footprint, and improve your health.

How to Get Your Nip About Through the Green Commute Initiative

1. Check Eligibility with Your Employer

Make sure your employer is registered with the Green Commute Initiative (GCI). If they are, ask them for your GCI employer code.

2. Choose Your Bike & Accessories

Add your Nip About bike and any accessories to your cart. Take a screenshot or note down the total cost.

3. Apply via the GCI Website

Go to GCI’s quote form and enter your employer’s GCI code, your details, the selected bike and accessories, the retailer, and preferred salary sacrifice period.

4. Employer Approval

Your employer will receive the application through their GCI portal and will need to approve it.

5. Sign the Agreement

Once approved, you’ll receive a salary sacrifice agreement to sign electronically.

6. Employer Pays GCI

GCI sends an invoice to your employer for payment.

7. Get Your Voucher and Order Your Bike

Once payment is received, GCI will issue your voucher, which you can then use to pay for your items on our website.
